Red Maca Reduced Prostate Size in Rats
A preclinical animal study evaluating aqueous extracts of yellow, black and red maca in male rats. Under the study conditions, red maca—but not yellow or black maca—reduced ventral prostate size and attenuated changes induced by testosterone enanthate, without changes in circulating testosterone or estradiol. These findings are from rats and should not be interpreted as evidence of the same effect in humans.
